The Merseyside outfit announced on Tuesday evening that the 23-year-old had committed his long-term future to them, and the player himself wasted no time in sharing his feelings on his social media channels.
He wrote on Instagram: “I’m over the moon to sign a new deal. Thank you to everyone for their support, the club, fans and my teammates. I can’t wait to keep moving forward!!”
It has certainly been a big season for the central defender who has finally established himself as a regular in the starting XI, being named on the team-sheet on 18 occasions in the Premier League this term – that has included nine of Carlo Ancelotti’s 10 top-flight games at the helm.
In that regard, he looks to be one of the Italian’s preferred options in the heart of the defence.
Did he really play for us?! No Everton fan has managed to name all of these obscure Toffees players….
Plenty of Holgate’s Toffees teammates are clearly delighted for him penning a new contract at Goodison Park, as you can see below.
Fabian Delph, Yannick Bolasie and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were just some of the Everton players to respond, with the former saying “congrats brother” and the latter saying “love it brother”.
Calvert-Lewin of course himself is another younger member of the squad who is shining on the pitch in 2019/20, while Bolasie is currently out on loan at Sporting Lisbon.
In other Everton news, Toffees fans on Twitter have jumped to the defence of one much-criticised player…
