The shamisen might not save Atsu in combat against the Yotei Six, but it certainly will make camps more fun, and even provides them with a tool to find some undiscovered treasures.
How to Get Atsu's Song in Ghost of Yotei
Atsu's Song Location and Effects
- Location: Home, Yotei Grasslands (Automatically acquired during the Prologue)

Atsu’s Song is the very first song players will unlock, and it’s automatically given to them simply by progressing through the story. After the Prologue, you’ll start at Atsu’s old Home in the Yotei Grasslands, and switch between memories of the past and the present. After the cutscene where you learn how to play the shamisen with Atsu’s mother, you will be given Atsu’s Song to play. This song has no special effects and is simply used as a tutorial song.
How to Get Song of Spirit in Ghost of Yotei
Song of Spirit Location and Effects
- Location: Master Heijiro’s Garden, Yotei River, Yotei Grasslands
- Effect: Discover Bamboo Strikes locations.
The Song of Spirit is rewarded to players during the Side Tale “Master of the Shamisen”. Players can find this Side Tale by heading north of the Yotei Grasslands and past the Yotei River, where they will find Master Heijiro’s Garden. Between the purple flowers and looking out from the cliff, you’ll be able to hold the Touch Pad to enter a memory of the past. In this flashback, speak to Atsu’s mother to begin the Side Tale. After completing the Side Tale with Master Heijiro, you will be awarded the Song of Spirit, which, when played, guides you to a nearby and undiscovered Bamboo Strike. Bamboo Strikes are used to increase your maximum Spirit, so they’re very useful.

How to Get Song of the Wolf in Ghost of Yotei
Song of the Wolf Location and Effects
- Location: Complete 4 Wolf Dens across Ezo
- Effect: Discover Wolf Dens locations.
Atsu can further the bond she shares with the rogue wolf of Ezo that often comes to her aid during fights with the Saito Outlaws. To do that, she’s going to need to learn a special song. The Song of the Wolf is unlocked after players complete 4 Wolf Dens. There are 10 Wolf Dens in total, and by completing any 4, you will earn the Song of the Wolf. Here are some easy-to-find Wolf Dens so that you can get the Song of the Wolf faster:
- Green Hill Wolf Den: South of Lake Shikotsu in the Yotei Grasslands
- Great Mountain Wolf Den: Northwest of the Nupur River in the Yotei Grasslands
- Dying Fire Wolf Den: Above the “Y” in Nakogoya Spring, Ishikari Plain
- Old Wound Wolf Den: West of the Rumoi River in Ishikari Plain
The Song of the Wolf has a few interesting effects. The first one that comes with it is that playing the Song of the Wolf will guide you to nearby and undiscovered Wolf Dens. However, you can spend the skill points you earn from the Wolf Dens to get Primal Bond, which allows you to use the Song of the Wolf before enemy encounters to summon the wolf as an ally in combat.

How to Get Song of Well-Being
Song of Well-Being Location and Effects
- Location: Shamisen Practice, west of Rumoi River, Ishikari Plain
- Effects: Discover Hot Springs locations.
The Song of Well-Being can be found in the Ishikari Plain. Players will unlock this region of Ezo once they begin their Main Tale, “The Oni”. Once you’ve unlocked Ishikari Plain to roam, you will want to travel to the far north of the region until you reach the Rumoi River. If you head directly west of the Rumoi River, you’ll discover a Shamisen Practice location. This is on a rock on a hill, and you can sit down on the straw cushion to begin playing the shamisen, and upon successfully completing the minigame, you will earn the Song of Well-Being. This song will guide you to undiscovered Hot Springs locations, which are used to increase your Maximum Health.

How to Get the Song of Shrines in Ghost of Yotei
The Song of Shrines Location and Effects
- Location: Activate a Camp in Ishikari Plain for a random chance for a Settler to visit and teach the song
- Effect: Discover Shrines of Reflection locations.
The Song of Shrines is a hard song to obtain, as it’s completely random and based on RNG. The Song of Shrines has no set location, but you’ll have better luck in the Ishikari Plain. The only way that players can get it is by approaching their horse and holding Up on the D-Pad. This will set up your Camp, and if a Settler does not approach and talk about your shamisen, then you will not be taught the song. To get the Settler to spawn, simply fast travel to other locations and continue to set up a Camp until he arrives. The Song of Shrines provides players with the ability to discover nearby Shrines of Reflection, which are used to upgrade Atsu’s skills.
How to Get the Song of Revenge in Ghost of Yotei
The Song of Revenge Location and Effects
- Location: Musician’s Camp, Tokachi Range
- Effect: Discover Yotei Six Camps/Hideouts locations.
Head into the Tokachi Range and venture southeast of the Ohara Plains. You’ll want to keep going until you’re just north of Shizunai Woods, where you’ll come across a Musician’s Camp. The Musician’s Camp is empty, but you can find him playing a shamisen at the nearby pond. You can then donate 10 coins to the musician to learn the Song of Revenge. The Song of Revenge allows players to locate unexplored Yotei Six Camps, which always contain an Altar of Reflection.
How to Get the Song of the Ainu in Ghost of Yotei
The Song of the Ainu Location and Effects
- Location: Ainu’s Musician’s Camp, Yubari Lake, Tokachi Range
- Effect: Discover lost Ainu Items.
The Song of the Ainu can be forth in the northern area of Yubari Lake in the Tokachi Range. At the shore of the lake is the Ainu Musician’s Camp, and you can speak to the musician here to start “The Soul of an Instrument” Side Tale. After completing this Side Tale, you’ll need to venture to the east of the Cukpet Hills in the Nayoro Wilds, where you’ll find the Cukpet Hills Campsite and the next Side Tale, “A Melody of Thoughts”. At the end of this Side Tale, you’ll learn the Song of the Ainu, which can be used to find missing Ainu Items.
How to Get the Song of Vanity in Ghost of Yotei
The Song of Vanity Location and Effects
- Location: Shamisen Practice, north Crimson Forest, Teshio Ridge
- Effect: Discover Vanity Gear locations.
The Song of Vanity is located at the Shamisen Practice area in the north region of the Crimson Forest in the Teshio Ridge. Players can head to the far north region and climb the snowy mountain in the center of this area to find a straw mat where they can sit and play the shamisen. Doing so rewards you with the Song of Vanity, which, when played, allows you to find Vanity Gear like Dyes and Weapon Kits.
After acquiring all 8 shamisen songs, you will earn the Like Mother, Like Daughter Bronze Trophy.
