The final outcome left Sancho with little to celebrate, but he has become the highest-scoring Englishman in Bundesliga history – with his strike against Leipzig taking him to 40 across two spells in the German top-flight. He has said of hitting that mark: “A result to reflect on… thank you for the travelling fans who came to support us today! Sancho may not hold a place in the history books for long, as international team-mate Harry Kane is chasing him down. The former Tottenham striker has only been with Bayern Munich for a season, but he already has 35 Bundesliga goals to his name and will make history at some point if he remains at the Allianz Arena.
